The interactive parts of this page (prototype and survey) need the SideQuest script, which isn’t running yet. Site owner: in Webador go to Settings > Advanced > Add custom HTML code, paste the SideQuest script file, and set the location to Body – end.

One quest. Zero decisions.

Free time shouldn’t take planning.

Tell SideQuest how much time you’ve got, your budget, your mood, and who’s coming. We hand back exactly one ready-to-go plan nearby — no browsing, no group chat, no decision fatigue.

One quest per request — never a list to compare

Free time shouldn’t feel like homework.

Before SideQuest, turning an open afternoon into an actual plan usually looks like this:

  • Fifteen browser tabs open, comparing reviews you don’t trust

  • A group chat going in circles: “idk, you pick”

  • Twenty minutes gone — and still no plan

How it works

Four steps. Under thirty seconds. Zero decisions.

Not a list — a single, ready plan

  4. 4

Try the prototype

This is a clickable version of the whole experience. Change the settings, generate a quest, and walk through it to the end. Quests here are sample data, not live listings.

What’s happening behind the screen

The prototype scores a set of sample quests against your time, budget, mood, and group size, then shows the best match and why it won. Tap “New Quest” to see the next best. The real app would draw on live local places instead.

About SideQuest

What is SideQuest?

SideQuest is an app concept that decides what to do with your free time. Instead of searching, opening tabs, or polling a group chat, you give it a few details and it hands you one ready-to-go plan, called a quest.

What do I have to tell it?

Five things: how much time you have, your budget, your location, your mood, and whether you’re going solo or with friends. That’s the whole input.

Why only one quest instead of a list?

A list brings back the exact problem we’re trying to remove: comparing, second-guessing, and debating. If a quest isn’t right, tap “New Quest” for the next best match.

Can I use it with a group?

Yes. Choose “With friends” and SideQuest favors plans that work for a group, so nobody has to run the vote.

Is the app available to download?

Not yet. SideQuest is a class project in the concept and prototype stage. The survey on this site is how we’re learning what to build.

The prototype

Are the places in the prototype real?

No. The prototype uses made-up sample quests and place names so you can see how the experience flows. Any resemblance to real businesses is a coincidence. The real app would use live local listings.

How does the prototype choose a quest?

It scores each sample quest against your time, budget, mood, and group size, then shows the best match along with why it was picked. Tapping “New Quest” shows the next best.

Does it use my real location?

No. The prototype never asks for your location. In the real app, location would be detected automatically so you wouldn’t have to type it.

Why did I get the same quest twice?

The prototype has a small set of sample quests, so similar settings can land on the same one. Try changing your mood, budget, or time.

Your answers and privacy

What happens to my survey answers?

They’re sent to our class team and used only to learn what people want from an app like this. We don’t sell or share them.

Do I have to leave my email?

No. Only the first survey question is required. Add your email only if you want to hear when there’s a version to try.

How will SideQuest make money?

We haven’t decided yet. It’s one of the things the survey asks about, so your answer helps.
